We Gather... Let us give thanks for the people who bring God’s word to life in our lives. (pause) God our creator, fill us with the spirit of the gospel and strengthen us to spread the good news Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. We Listen... A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark (12:41-44) Jesus was sitting in the temple near the offering box and watching people put in their gifts. He noticed that many rich people were giving a lot of money. Finally, a poor widow came up and put in two coins that were worth only a few pennies. Jesus told his disciples to gather around him. Then he said: “I tell you that this poor widow has put in more than all the others. Everyone else gave what they didn’t need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had. Now she doesn’t have a cent to live on.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. We Reflect... The reading today highlights that we do not need to give a lot for it to mean a lot. Jesus saw the widow’s offering as more than all the rich people. However, Jesus was not asking us to give away all our money to make us better people. To be like the widow, we could offer all our love, all our help or all our friendship to others to show them how much we care. With that in mind, watch this video of the widow’s story, and think of what we can offer others. We Go into the World... THURSDAY 8 MAY 2025 Week 3 Easter May the joy of the Spirit fill our lives. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 72
